Version 10/2018 of MESYS Shaft and Bearing analysis software is now available under Downloads.
Extensions in the shaft calculation software
A major extension is the possibility to consider 3D-elastic parts with elastic bearing rings and elastic gear bodies. Bearings and other supports and forces can nor be directly defined for 3D-elastic FEA-parts. This also allows to connect two 3D-elastic parts.
Stiffnesses can now be determined for selected points of a shaft. This allows to get a stiffness for an end of a shaft without running two calculations and calculation a difference quotient.
For data exchange with other calculation programs the REXS-Format is supported. Planetary gear stages can so far only be imported but not exported. FEA-parts are not supported yet for import and export.
Extensions in the bearing calculation software
In the bearing calculation the shoulder opening angle can now be defined for tapered roller bearings and axial-spherical roller bearings. This changes the direction of the rim force and therefore leads to a small change of contact stresses.
The bearing database from SKF was updated to the latest data and a bearing database from Schaeffler with FAG and INA bearings was added. Both databases only contain catalog data, no information about internal geometry.
For needle bearing a selection of drawn cup needle roller bearings is possible now. This leads to lower load capacities compared to machined rings as ISO 281 provides a lower bm-factor.
The thermal permissible speed can now be calculated using factors from ISO/TR 141790-2 in addition to DIN 732. This allows the selection of different lubrication types and axial forces for cylindrical roller bearings an be considered.
