In menu "Extras" the SKF bearing module can be activated:
After accepting the terms of use and clicking the "Check"-button a log-in dialog in the web-browser is shown. If no credentials for the SKF bearing module are available, first register for the service. After successful log-in "Access granted" will be show in the window. Using "Reset" the service is disabled and no further requests are send to the SKF server.
Two services are available:
•The SKF bearing calculation service is available to all registered users. If this is activated additional two columns for SKF bearing life are shown in the result overview and a table with SKF results is added to the report. The SKF modified life rating can be different from the ISO 281 life rating as aSKF is calculated differently than aISO.
•The SKF bearing data service allows to retrieve detailed bearing data from the SKF server. Additional permissions by SKF are required to use this service. Please contact your SKF application support regarding this service. Initially the bearing data service is available for super-precision bearings only and will be extended later. Initially supported bearing types are: Angular contact bearings, single and double row radial cylindrical roller bearings and limited to super-precision bearings.
The SKF data base within the installation only contains approximated internal geometry. With this service the detailed internal geometry from SKF is loaded into memory and will be lost again after closing the software. If the internal geometry is available, the bearing is printed in bold face in the bearing database table and a different color is used in the 2D-shaft editor. These colors can be selected under Display settings in the shaft calculation. If the option "Consider custom bearings for SKF bearing data service" is active, the software also tries to get internal data for bearings in the custom bearing database, if these are set to approximated bearing geometry and the manufacturer name starts with "SKF".
